Digital camouflage uniforms which meet the need of better camouflage effect are now gradually being sent to all corps. (Feb. 4, 2015)

The spokesman of the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Lo Shao-ho, indicated that the digital camouflage pattern adopted by the Armed Forces meets the requirements for being stealth on battlefields. The Army corps which defends the islands other than Taiwan and the special forces in Taiwan has already changed their uniforms to the new ones in first priority. For there is a larger need of the amount of uniforms from the other ground forces, new uniforms will be distributed to the corps gradually in the order of different military branches. For the point that the new uniforms has a worse effect in defending against cold weather, the spokesman said that the R & D department will continue to make improvement in solving the problem, and the Ministry of National Defense will also help soldiers to defend against cold weather in other ways in addition.
It is reported by media that the tiger stripe camouflage pattern used by the Marine Corps will be part of the history under the Armed Forces’ policy of changing to uniforms with digital camouflage patterns. The comment made by Lo for this was that the policy for the use of digital camouflage pattern stipulated by the Ministry of National Defense is to have all ground forces, which include the Marine Corps, Air Borne Paratroop, Army Infantry corps and Army Armored Corps, apply a uniform form of digital camouflage pattern.
Lo indicated that the Armed Forces adopted digital camouflage uniforms because many developed countries have already done so. Second, the digital camouflage pattern developed by the Ministry of National Defense in 2011 is suited for the need of being stealth on battlefields in possible situations of defending Penghu and Taiwan, no matter in environments of seashore, seaside, jungle or city. For there is a larger need from the other ground forces, new uniforms will be distributed to the corps gradually in the order of different military branches, and the corps on islands other than Taiwan and special forces are in a higher priority. The Army corps on islands other than Taiwan and special forces in Taiwan has already changed their uniforms to the new ones with a digital camouflage pattern. The other ground forces will also receive and change to the new uniforms according to a stipulated operation schedule.
